Google forces reviewers to take down the negative reviews as the companies are its clients, and for various ones for my true feedback, I am told to take it down as it is against Google policies. I ve decided to delete my complete reviews, despite being a level 7 reviewer contributing over 7 years, from Google platform and follow Yelp.

Previously I thought that reviewers can review honestly but after this reality, I am doubtful. Further on schools the reviews are disabled which don’t support the expression of true information and should be open for public feedback.

Google´s Review Policy, if ever aimed for honesty and consumer´s true feedback, became a real bluff in terms of feedback culture.
Even if the content/feedback just mirrors the experience with no offence and violation against the policy, a one star review got rejected instantly with no means.
Which in the long run makes the whole Google review approach obsolete. Better tune your AI capabilities to detect true scam then requesting feedback on locations visited, no really wanting true feedback.
The overall rating of Google on their own platform reflects it all.
Google does not even feed back / comments on reviews towards themselves. Seems to be the nature of the B.
Since this is a one star review, I expect above.

Baffled and Frustrated by Google’s Removal of My Honest Review

A few years ago, I visited a local pizza joint after work and left a quick Google review to share my thoughts. It was a typical experience—nothing spectacular, but decent pizza and friendly service. My review simply read: “Ok pizza and good service. Nothing special, but for a quick bite after work a very good location.” I gave it three stars, which felt fair. It wasn’t a five-star meal, but it was fine for a casual stop.

Fast forward to last week, and I received an email from Google informing me that my review was going to be removed because it was deemed defamatory under German law. Defamatory? Honestly, I was baffled. After reading my review again, I still have no clue which part of it could be considered harmful or defamatory. I wasn’t rude, insulting, or even overly critical. I just stated my honest opinion: the pizza was “ok,” and the service was “good.”

Naturally, I wrote back to Google, politely asking for clarification. I wanted to know exactly why my review was being flagged as defamatory. I also questioned the value of the review system itself—if honest feedback from customers could be removed simply because it wasn’t glowing, what was the point of reviews in the first place? If businesses can just get bad reviews erased to boost their ratings, isn’t the system broken? And why would Google allow this to happen?

The response I got was frustratingly vague. It was a generic, copy-paste reply that still claimed my review was defamatory, but didn’t address a single one of my questions or provide any real reasoning. It felt like no one at Google actually took the time to read my review or consider my perspective. It was just the same automated message with no substance.

So now I’m left wondering: what’s the point of leaving honest reviews if they can be removed so easily, especially when they don’t align with the five-star narrative? I get that businesses want good ratings, but is Google really going to allow them to sweep less-than-perfect reviews under the rug? It feels like they’re turning a blind eye to the authenticity of the system in favor of keeping the stars shining bright.

If you’re planning to use Google’s review system, be cautious. It seems that expressing a genuine, balanced opinion may not always be welcome. I’m honestly disappointed in Google for allowing this kind of manipulation, and I don’t think my trust in the platform will ever be the same.

I’ve seen many other reviews from people who’ve had the exact same thing happen to them, so it seems I’m not alone in this frustration.

They say about inclusivity, liberal environment, and a great work culture. Don’t be fooled, all they care about is how to get every penny you have. Very toxic environment. And actually they break a law on a daily basis but nobody cares, beacuse $. Literally the worst corpo I’ve been forced to work with. They are even worse then EA where I worked for some time. And it’s not easy to be worse then EA trust me.

As a customer of google mail services, YouTube and one who write reviews on maps, I can easily say, your review policies and AI practices fail in many aspects. Describing a real experience of discrimination doesn’t make it fake. Other people need to know which businesses use biased practices. Unfortunately, since you are one of the biased businesses, besides as a tech giant violating people’s privacy with your AI tools, it is in your interest to label such reviews as fake upfront.
