Genuinely shocked at the non-existent customer service. I got my fairbuds a year ago, and already for 4 months, they’ve been broken. I have been trying to get in touch with fairphone for 3 months straight. Multiple emails, multiple attempts via their live chat, followed all instructions and literally NOBODY has reached out to help at any point in time. Either no reply or just bots. 150 euro down the drain for nothing. Highly recommend not spending your money here.

Customer service is non-existent!

Customer service only helped me once, during the online purchase process which had bugs.

Due to one bug, the case wasn’t delivered. I informed them 2 months ago. I only received a message “please be patient, the average response time is 16 working days, don’t contact is the mean time.” Two months later I still haven’t received a response.

During online chat hours, I waited for three hours to get support. But they never responded either.

I then ordered a second case and screenprotector (as protector broke due to absence of case) for about €80. That got delivered on time.

But now within 50 days of use, my phone doesn’t charge anymore. Guess it’s a battery problem, but yeah… how to get in contact with the team??

Good idea, like the sustainability focus. But my Fairphone 5 is very buggy, sent it for repair once (10 days no phone), now again lots of random reboots, issues with roaming (?), antenna (?), reboots when battery gets hot…

Their phones are routed as being designed for the end user to repair them yet when the phone gets bricked Fairphone forces you to send the phone to them despite that they can probably make the recovery method available to the public. Don’t even get me started on how long it takes them to email you back.

In this photo from 2021, the one on the left is Fairphone 2, pioneeringly bought at the beginning of 2016 and here at the end of its honored five-year career (I was hoping for more but the software limits made it impossible for me to continue – I use a lot of apps); the one on the right is the Fairphone 3+ that still performs very well today, especially in light of the update to Android 13 which keeps it fast.
I really like this photo because it clearly shows the evolution of design over the years – the model 2 was still very much a “laboratory” 😃
Now I’d like to try the camera and battery of model 5, but the sense of challenge makes me want to use the 3+ for a long time to come…
After two years the battery is preserved well; the camera is of discreet quality -> more generally the price compared to the features of the phone is not yet fully accessible, but it is obvious that an ethical project must incorporate costs that most other companies have decided not to bear.
In my opinion, the project should be supported for this very reason, to make it more and more widespread! 💥
